Similar to many fashion items, buying designer tie can be a very personal thing. Everyone has his own personal preference, style, and choice of cloth. The range of ties offered range from polyester to silk designer tie. Literally thousands of ties are available for any occasion. And with the number of design and types of ties available in the market, getting the right designer tie can be a challenge. Fortunately, there are a number of tips that can help you select the right designer tie:
Materials used for the Designer Ties
Polyester Designer Tie
Polyester is a very strong material that is flexible enough to suit a variety of occasions. It is a popular fabric for ties because of its durability and hardiness. In fact, it can even be machine-washed on certain occasions. Most people prefer to dry-clean them to make it last. Polyester designer ties have various finishes including woven polyester and polyester satin.
Standard polyester can either have a smooth or rough finish depending on the preference of the user. If you decide to select a tie with satin finish, expect a silky and smooth texture. It is an affordable alternative to pure silk designer tie.
Silk Designer Tie
Expect silk ties to be more expensive than its polyester counterpart. This type of designer tie typically have a smooth finish although certain silk designer ties are crafted from rough silk which can be textured and rough. Silk is very versatile; it can be printed on or woven. Take note though that pure silk designer tie should be dry-cleaned. Washing it with a machine can ruin the fabric.

Plain designer tie can be worn on a daily basis. Because of its simplicity, it can also complement men’s attire for different occasions such as weddings, corporate meetings, and casual events among others.
Fashion Ties – this type of designer tie have a specific design or pattern. For example, ties with spots and stripes fall under this category. Fashion tie can also vary between seasons depending on the trend. Remember that because fashion changes often, certain designs are only available for a specific period.
Bow Ties – bow ties come in different designs and patterns. It can come in polyester and silk material. Majority of bow designer ties are already pre-tied. All you need to do is adjust the neck strap, fasten to clasp at the back, and you’re ready to go.
Clip-on Ties – a number of men find typing their designer tie time-consuming. The clip-on tie is specifically designed for them. It comes with a neck-strap that can be clipped at the back after you have buttoned up your shirt. Majority of clip-on ties are made of polyester satin.
